Bowden Coaches To Reunite For Una Sportsman's Club Celebrity Classic

FLORENCE, Ala. - Fans of golf and Bowden family football will have the dream of a lifetime May 3 as they tee up with Florida State University coaching legend Bobby Bowden and his son, former Clemson University Coach Tommy Bowden. Both will be part of the University of North Alabama's Sportsman's Club Celebrity Golf Classic, featuring the Bowden family.
UNA's football coaching staff includes two members of this First Family of College Football: head Coach Terry Bowden and assistant Coach Jeff Bowden. At the golf classic, Bobby and Tommy Bowden will be joined by a growing number of other celebrity players, which currently includes College Football Hall of Famer, Alabama Sports Hall of Famer and retired Arizona Cardinal Ron McKinnon and former Alabama head basketball coach, National Coach of the Year and three-time SEC Coach of the Year Wimp Sanderson. McKinnon and Sanderson are both alumni of UNA. The UNA Sportsman's Club Celebrity Golf Classic will be hosted at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m., with lunch at 1 p.m. A pairing party will be held at 6 p.m. May 2 at Rogers Hall on the UNA campus. Teams may play for $1,000 and individuals for $250. The tournament is limited to 48 teams. Three sponsorships are available: title and partner sponsors, hole sponsors and tee sponsors. The $5,000 title and partner sponsorship includes one four-person team, six invitations to the pairing party, selection of a celebrity playing partner, sponsorship acknowledgment on the UNA Web site and scramble promotional signage. Hole and tee sponsorships, each $150, include promotional signage at the respective hole or tee. Sponsorship and entry fees will be applied toward a Sportsman's Club membership.
